by

It’s the Queer Issue! This week in the Voice, Steven Thrasher takes a look at the complicated relationship between members of Bronx Senator Reverend Rubén Díaz Sr.’s family when it comes to gay rights. Senior is staunchly anti-gay marriage; his son, Bronx Borough President Rubén Díaz Jr., has a decidedly mixed record on the issue, and his granddaughter, Erica Díaz, a lesbian discharged from the military under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” is on the polar opposite side of the debate.

Michael Musto gives 62 reasons for why he hates being gay, including: “You still audition with that Pippin song and that monologue from A Chorus Line.”

Meanwhile, Steve Weinstein examines the promiscuity of gay men and how that relates to the younger generation fighting for marriage.

Sharyn Jackson looks at “power lesbians.”

Jim Halterman examines the crossover between reality television and gay porn. He points to Steven Daigle of the summer 2008 season of Big Brother, “a bigger name now in the world of pornography than he ever was on TV.”

In food, Robert Sietsema samples the “confusing categories” of pizza at the West Village’s 900 Degrees.

And Jess Harvell calls Bon Iver’s Bon Iver “one of the most astounding-sounding albums of 2011″
