Pianist Allen and drummer Carrington came up musing on the M-BASE lingo of the Brooklyn ‘80s, and they’ve since clocked myriad accomplishments, bending rhythms to suit their very varied interests. Meanwhile, Spalding is the current agility queen of the jazz bass, snapping grooves, feathering implications, and injecting oomph, so watching the chemistry present itself should be a hoot.
