Her recent Aeriol Piano kept listeners on the edge of their seats, a solo disc teaming with craggy lyricism and fetching conundrums. The record was also indicative of the way Davis's ensemble music works, and this new band should express a bit of that. Mat Maneri’s viola mixes with Oscar Noriega’s reeds in the front line, and their dark hue—one of Davis’s favorite palette choices—should prove bewitching.
