In the mid ’80s and ’90s, designer Donna Karan became one of the most recognizable American figures in fashion known for “modern clothes for modern people.” It was also around this time—1994, to be exact—that fashion executive Fern Mallis morphed New York Fashion Week from 
a hush-hush, industry-only event into the mega-glitz-and-glamor wonderland that it is today. These two New York fashion icons hit the stage tonight in what should be a fascinating talk about the inner workings of fashion from the past to the present and perhaps shed some light on the vastly evolving future of fashion.
