More About

"Now, the easiest kind of a job was a murder,” said Weegee, the famous crime photographer of the ’30s and ’40s, “because the stiff would be laying on the ground. He couldn’t get up and walk away and get temperamental, and he would be good for at least two hours.” Fortunately for the man who loved a good crime scene, his career coincided with the bloody days of Murder, Inc., a group of Jewish hitmen from Brownsville who worked for the mob bosses of the Syndicate. Now you can revisit the violence at ICP’s new exhibition Weegee: Murder Is My Business, which features rare examples of his most famous images.
