Casual fans of Sonic Youth might be surprised to find a member of this longtime New York noise-rock institution taking part in Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series. But singer-guitarist Thurston Moore arrives at the Allen Room tonight in the wake of last year’s Demolished Thoughts, a surprisingly folky (and deeply lovely) solo album he made with that old culture vulture Beck—it’s much more coffee-shop appropriate than the SY “hits” disc Starbucks put out in 2008. Playing tunes from Thoughts, as well as from two earlier solo discs, Moore will be backed by a four-piece band complete with ladies on violin and harp.
