“I had this attitude then that I didn’t know how to make a film, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me,” filmmaker Amos Poe told Films in Review last year. His DIY ethic naturally drew him to the CBGB’s crowd, many of whom became the subjects and stars of his gritty indie films. This weekend, Anthology Film Archives takes a look back at his contribution to the No Wave movement for three nights with the filmmaker in person. Tonight at 7:15, catch Night Lunch (1975) and Blank Generation (1976), his first two lo-fi concert films, made with Ivan Král, featuring performances by the Ramones, Patti Smith, David Bowie, the Talking Heads, and Television. Stay for the 9:30 screening of Unmade Beds, his 1976 re-imagining of Godard’s Breathless, starring Eric Mitchell, Patti Astor, and Debbie Harry.
