After watching The Artist sweep the Oscars, it’s evident that there's nothing that the French can't do. Occupy Rousseau, a program consisting of speakers such as ex-governor of New York Eliot Spitzer, ex-governor of New Jersey Tom Kean, and numerous figures from the academic world, will attempt to shed antiquated light on modern questions that the Occupy movement has brought to the forefront of national discussion. Marking the 300th anniversary of the Emile author’s birth, the panel is part of ThinkSwiss: Genève Meets New York, a six-day festival that celebrates the ideas that came from the Enlightened capital. If the Romantic philosopher of France, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, were alive today, what would he have to say about democracy, capitalism, and justice in the 21st century?
