Ki Purbo Asmoro, the superstar puppeteer of Javanese shadow-puppet theater, will animate his exquisitely ornamented creations backed by a full Javanese gamelan orchestra. It's a relaxed tradition: Audience members are free to roam around the auditorium during the three-hour performance (a *short* version of what Indonesian audiences would experience) and check out Purbo Asmoro's work from either side of the "shadow screen."
