More About

While we all like to lament the death of publishing thanks to the Internet, downtown theater company Elevator Repair Service believes in books. Since 1991, the company has performed both full-length and abridged theatrical recitations of great works of literature from Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, and Henry James. In 2010, ERS did a six-and-a-half-hour marathon adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, with Scott Shepherd winning an Obie for his performance as an office clerk who reads the entire book aloud. Now, ERS is bringing back the critically acclaimed Gatz for a two-month run, with Shepherd reprising his role.
Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, 3 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: March 14. Continues through May 13, 2012
