If you go to one hockey game a year, this should be it. Every game between the cross-river rivals is an emotional frenzy for both players and fans as the hate factor lives on. As Rangers center Brian Boyle summed it up a few weeks ago after a 4-1 Devils win: “They hated us tonight. They wanted to kill us tonight.” This game will mean even more than bragging rights for both teams as the season is winding down, and the Rangers, who are leading the Eastern Division, would love to knock the No. 6 (as we go to press) Rangers out of the playoff picture. So come prepared for some action both on and off the ice. New York fans have been known to throw confetti that says “Rangers Suck,” and Devils fans once set Rangers jerseys on fire and lit cigarettes from the flames—outside the Garden.
