There's always something more than a little awe-inspiring about great comedy done on the fly, and the Peoples Improv Theater (named Best Comedy Club in our 2011 Best of NYC issue) knows this well—which is why they’re hosting the first-ever New York City ImprovFest. The showcase invites anyone who can dazzle a crowd with acts off the top of his or her head to New York for three days of education and demonstration. Comedians and groups can take part in workshops taught by veterans from known troupes including the Upright Citizens Brigade, Neutrino, and the Reckoning, while the best of the best from NYC and all over the country show off what they’ve got. Come see who made the submission cut and prepare to shed a few tears (from laughter, of course).
