As Kid Koala, Canadian DJ Eric San melds clips from TV, sketch comedy, performance art, Cantonese menus, and—somewhere in there—samples from a wide spectrum of musical genres. When he’s not using it to intersperse scratched-over uke samples with swing jazz rhythms, he plays his turntable like an instrument, using the needle to drag a single note at different speeds and pitches to improvise melodies.
