More About

We love the NIT, the longest-running postseason tournament in the country. The glamour, big bucks, and bracket-mania may go to the NCAA tourney, but the number 69-101 teams in the NIT play just as hard and, lucky for local fans, every year play their final games at the Garden. This year’s NIT may offer the best field ever: of the 32 teams playing, 25 notched up 20 or more wins with 11 conference champions hitting the boards. And upsets do happen. In 2010, number one-seeded Arizona State lost to Jacksonville at the buzzer in the opening game. It’s a fine way to close out the local college hoops season.
