Prolific indie-folk artist Mountain Goats (a one-man operation led by the nasal-voiced John Darnielle) will be performing new songs tonight from the forthcoming Transcendental Youth. He’s already established a reputation for heady, complex, literate lyrics that seem at odds with his sparse instrumentation, and he will be continuing that trend as he tells stories of a community near Puget Sound in Washington that is overwhelmed with mourning (or so he’s let on.) The long-running all-female a capella group Anonymous 4 will be tempering his bleats as they perform alongside.
