"I don't consider writing a quiet, closet act," Patti Smith once said. "I consider it a real physical act. When I'm home writing on the typewriter, I go crazy. I move like a monkey. I've wet myself, I've come in my pants writing." Tonight, the rock legend and author of Just Kids, which won a National Book Award for Nonfiction in 2010, speaks frankly (of course!) with Glenn Kurtz (author of Practicing) about her writing process at Housing Works in their series Conversation on Practice, devoted to the daily work of art-making. Smith will also be signing books after the discussion. Can books include our journal circa 1995? We hope so.
