Parents say the darndest things—or at least that's what the cast of You Better Sit Down: Tales From My Parents' Divorce thought when inspired to take others' juicy anecdotes from marital (and postmarital) life to the stage. Actors from the Obie-winning New York–based theater company the Civilians interviewed divorced couples to form a script for this hilarious tell-all, only to find that their own parents, long since separated, offered up the best stage material of all. The four cast members play their own single mothers and fathers in this staged dramatization of those very interviews, whose tones vary from funny to serious to revelatory.
