WEST IS BEST

Run through 'Little Bohemia'

The folks at City Running Tours have a run for everything. (Did anyone catch the St. Patrick’s Day Beer Run?) They love New York, and they love to run and show off their neighborhoods. Their run today is the West Village 5K. Known as "Little Bohemia" as far back as 1916, the West Village has excellent views, from the Henry JamesÐera brick colonials of Washington Square to the ultramodern Richard MeierÐdesigned towers on Perry Street. Part of the charm is the streets that run at crazy angles; If you're on West 4th Street and cross 10th, 11th, and 12th streets, just go with it! Registration is $25. Pre-registration closes April 4 at 6, but you can register on the day of run if you allow time. Water provided, but you must carry it (none is available on the course), and there is a coat check. If you miss this race, check out City Running Tours' website for upcoming runs covering both the East and West Villages and parts of Brooklyn and Williamsburg. It's a great way to learn the backstreets of New York.
