The first of a four-night run preceding the release of this remarkably inventive jazz guitarist's uncharacteristically rockish Howie 61. Saxophonist Chris Potter's participation makes tonight and tomorrow well worth checking out, but expect things to take a turn for the wildly expressionist Friday and Saturday with the return of Krantz's longtime Bar 55 rhythm section, with the incomparable Keith Carlock on drums and Tim Lefebvre on bass.
