Taiko drumming, tea ceremonies, and samurai sword fighting may not sound like things you'd find in Brooklyn. And yet, this weekend, you'll feel like you're in Japan at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's annual Sakura Matsuri. This festival celebrating the blooming of the cherry-blossom trees, features all the traditional fare mentioned above plus plenty of contemporary Japanese pop-culture offerings, such as a cosplay fashion show, J-pop bands, and manga artists. Tours will also be given through the gardens all day.
