If there's one thing that inspires the films of Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar—aside from his muse Penélope Cruz—it has to be all the stylish clothes oozing in color. We've seen Cruz in skin-tight rouge dresses in Volver, Gael García Bernal glammed up as a transvestite in Bad Education, and, most recently, Antonio Banderas as the debonair doctor in three-piece suits in The Skin I Live In. It's evident Almodóvar enhances his stories visually through fashion. Tonight, at Almodóvar and Fashion, the director's friend designer David Delfín and CUNY professor Paul Julian Smith (author of Desire Unlimited: The Cinema of Pedro Almodóvar) reflect on the fashion that Almodóvar has used in his films, which span more than 30 years. That's a whole lot of clothes.
