More About

The military detention camp a few miles off of the Cuban shore was, and still is, a centerpiece of controversy in the War on Terror. Starting in the Bush years, hundreds of alien detainees were taken there against their will and then either released without charge or transferred back home. But before that happened, their time at the notorious base, which sometimes lasted years, was recorded by authorities and is now being shown at MOMA. In Combatant Status Review Tribunals, pp. 002954–003064: A Public Reading, nine artists will read aloud the tribulations of 18 prisoners in a two-day spoken-word performance. The orators will rotate and play the parts of eight jury members present at the detainees' trials. Find out what happened inside the base's military tribunal—a place known for stretching the law and the truth—between July 2004 and March 2005.
Fri., April 27, 2 p.m.; Sat., April 28, 2 p.m., 2012
