More About

Photographer Ari Marcopoulos has always been on the cutting edge of his craft. As an assistant for Andy Warhol and Irving Penn, Marcopoulos became an underground star in his own right through documenting the intimate lives of artists, musicians, and skateboarders with a lens that never romanticized nor exploited his subjects. His latest exhibition, "Wherever You Go," includes large-scale pigment ink prints on rice paper and his signature time-stamped photos made with a point-and-shoot camera and degraded through a process of photocopying, scanning, and pigment printing. A projection of video he shot with his iPhone over a period of three months with visions and sounds of riders on the subway will also be shown. And prepare to spend some time in the gallery's reading room, which will display his zines and bootleg versions of 15 of his out-of-print books.
Thu., May 10, 6 p.m.; Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m. Starts: May 10. Continues through June 10, 2012
