WORKS OF LOVE

The latest venture of an iconic star

When you think of Courtney Love, perhaps the words "visual artist" don’t pop into your head, but there's no denying she is an artist in every sense of the word. She attended the San Francisco Art Institute for two years back in the early 1980s, and now she's giving this art form another go-around with her debut art exhibition, "And She's Not Even Pretty." The show consists of several works on paper (done in watercolor, pastels, and colored pencils) all created in the past year that shine a light on Love in an intimate way. To her, these pieces—which display images of heartbreak, loneliness, debauchery, and sex—are more vulnerable than singing on stage. "It's like pages from my diary," she says. A read you should see for yourself.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m. Starts: May 11. Continues through June 15, 2012
