Wes Anderson’s Worlds

MOMI presents a
Wes Anderson retrospective

One has to wonder if Wes Anderson’s film career never took off, would he have found himself the host of an interior-decorating show today? Anderson’s obsession with getting every detail just so, down to having the right board game in a closet (does anyone else remember the Ungame?) or hand-painting African animals on a set of Louis Vuitton luggage, is what makes us wish we could live in his absurd American tales right alongside Dignan, Max, and the Tenenbaum clan. Before the release of his latest film, Moonrise Kingdom, on May 25, the new series Wes Anderson’s Worlds at the Museum of the Moving Image lets you revisit all those wonderful places of his imagination, with video introductions to each film by the director himself. It begins tonight with his second movie, Rushmore (1998), which gave Jason Schwartzman, one of Anderson’s frequent collaborators, his start.
Fri., May 18, 7 p.m.; Mondays-Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: May 18. Continues through May 27, 2012
