More About

Cue the Ennio Morricone soundtrack. Film Forum presents three weeks of spaghetti westerns, the genre that started with Sergio Leone’s A Fistful of Dollars in 1964, inspiring numerous Italian directors to make their own “western all’italiana.” On June 6, catch four films by Leone’s friend and rival, Sergio Corbucci (a favorite of Quentin Tarantino), including Navajo Joe (at 9:45 p.m.), in which Burt Reynolds stars as the titular “half-breed” who’s out to get revenge on the bandits who killed his tribe. For those interested in learning more about the genre, head to the Italian Cultural Institute (686 Park Avenue) June 6 at 6 p.m. for a free panel discussion with critics J. Hoberman and Dave Kehr, filmmaker William Lustig, genre star Tony Musante, and the series’ curator, Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan.
Wed., June 6, 9:45 p.m., 2012
