IT'S A FAMILY AFFAIR

Summerstage puts on a show for all ages

A New York institution since 1986, the Summerstage concert series is back and continuing its expansion beyond Rumsey Playground and into the many beautiful parks scattered throughout the outer boroughs. Today, Bed-Stuy’s Herbert Von King Park hosts Brooklyn Family Day, with WBLS pioneer DJ Stormin’ Norman, dancers from musical Fela! entertaining kids during the afternoon, and Park Slope MC Talib Kweli dropping by at 7 to entertain the parents and introduce a screening of Brooklyn Boheme, Nelson George’s recent tribute to nearby Fort Greene. Can’t make it today? Then come back on Tuesday for a performance by reggae singer-songwriter Bushman, Wednesday for “Bed” loverman J. Holday, and Thursday for hip-hop legends EPMD.
Sun., June 10, 4 p.m., 2012
