Pier Paolo Pasolini (1975) Pasolini’s legendary provocation transposes the Marquis de Sade to Fascist Italy in 1944 as eighteen teenage boys and girls are kidnapped and subjected to unimaginable torture and depravity. The film was to be the first in Pasolini’s “Trilogy of Death”—a project never completed, for the director was murdered a week before Salò’s release.
