More About

It’s been almost 50 years since the death of actress Marilyn Monroe on August 5, 1962, and interest in her hasn’t slowed down a bit. In the new show Marilyn & Me, photographer Lawrence Schiller adds to our intrigue of the sexy thespian. It’s his first solo exhibition in the United States, featuring 50 of Schiller’s images of Monroe—many of which have been newly discovered in his archives. Shown for the first time will be his original proof sheets with Monroe’s rejection markings and scrawled notes. Said Schiller to Monroe as they discussed the photos he was about to take of her in 1962, “You’re already famous, now you’re going to make me famous.” Monroe replied: “Don’t be so cocky. Photographers can be easily replaced.” But Monroe? Never.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m. Starts: June 12. Continues through June 30, 2012
