The summer heat and humidity are good reasons to avoid exercise, but the wise folks at Brooklyn Bridge Park have a great response: Their Waterfront Workouts series offers six different workouts presented by experts in their field in a gorgeous setting overlooking the East River and Manhattan skyline. From yoga to belly dancing and hip-hop to Pilates mat classes, there really is something for everyone. Starting today (and every Sunday through August 26) is Zumba—a great cardio workout set to Latin and world-dance music—on the promenade at Pier 1. Or if exercising before work is your thing, try Early Morning Yoga every Monday from July 2 to August 27 at 7:30 a.m. All classes are free, and it’s a good idea to show up a half-hour before the class.
