More About

In 1977, disco finally arrived in the mainstream thanks to the on-screen gyrations of John Travolta to all those Bee Gees songs in Saturday Night Fever. Tonight’s screening, part of the Celebrate Brooklyn! festival, fittingly takes place under the Brooklyn sky shared by 19-year-old Bay Ridge resident Tony Manero, who lives for the nightlife and loves to boogie along with his hooligan buddies in this iconic coming-of-age film. In honor of the Bee Gees and the recent passing of Robin Gibb, the heavy-metal Bee Gees tribute band Tragedy will warm up the crowd. This year also marks the 35th anniversary of Saturday Night Fever’s release, so tonight’s viewing is the Rated-R original. And, if you really want to make a night of it, arrive early for a disco-themed yoga class hosted by Lululemon at 6:30.
