If T.H. Huxley was right that “The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of childhood into maturity,” we’re all in luck as the second Come Out and Play Festival hits lower Manhattan. Come Out and Play is a nonprofit group dedicated to helping people rediscover playing on a big, big scale. Friday night’s After Dark 2012 event is their second in Manhattan (partnering with the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council) with an awesome array of interactive games set up around the Seaport, many of them on giant screens where the players control the game through “Mindset” headgear. Jump in for Fever Karaoke (“Mad Libs Meet Karaoke”) and Firefly (“A Game of Dark Intentions”), among others. Then, on Saturday, there are more games and events at their Field Day and Family Field Day on Governors Island. After Dark 2012, Friday from 7 to midnight, the Seaport, at Beekman and Front streets; Field Day, Saturday from 11 to 4, Governors Island.
