Before Housing Works gets mobbed by Ryan Gosling fans tonight, let’s clear up one thing: Feminist Ryan Gosling: Feminist Theory (as Imagined) from Your Favorite Sensitive Movie Dude by Danielle Henderson is not about Gosling. Well . . . not exactly. Henderson, a student and teacher in the gender-studies program at the University of Wisconsin, started the Tumblr site Feminist Ryan Gosling as a way to keep track of the theorists she’s been studying. Each post features a stunning picture of a hunky Gosling (are there any other kind?) speaking his steamy feminist thoughts (“Hey girl. It’s hard for me to reify Beauvoir’s theory of the lost female genius when I’m around you.”) Henderson has, of course, turned all those photos and silly quotes into a book and will be celebrating the launch tonight along with blogger Maris Kreizman of Slaughterhouse 90210.
