The last time British indie rockers Bloc Party brought their dance-floor-pounding post-punk to New York, it was 2009 and they played two nights at the cavernous Terminal 5. This time, they’re playing three. The extra show makes up for all the anticipation that’s built since their last appearance, shortly after which the group went on hiatus to work on side and solo projects. The bandmates reconvened last year, when they began work here in New York on their forthcoming LP Four, due August 20. Luckily for us, the wait seems to have been worth it, judging from the record’s lead single, “Octopus.” A stutterer’s dream, full of herky-jerky guitars and shimmering effects, it’s one of their catchiest to date. Tonight, they play with indie rockers The Drums and LA-based DJ Them Jeans.
