More About

For the past three decades, the Quay Brothers—identical twins separately known as Stephen and Timothy Quay—have been constantly reinventing the art of stop-motion and live-action films while producing more than 45 works, including two features, music videos, dance films, and documentaries. In the extensive MOMA retrospective Quay Brothers: On Deciphering the Pharmacist’s Prescription for Lip-Reading Puppets, you’ll see their collective work in various mediums for the first time ever. This film and art exhibition will include never-before-seen moving-image works, graphic design, drawings, and calligraphy, presenting animated and live-action films (including Street of Crocodiles from 1986) alongside installations, objects, and works on paper. The film program kicks off with MOMA’s new 35mm print of Institute Benjamenta(1995), with an introduction by the Quay Brothers at 7 p.m. on August 9. T
Mondays-Sundays, 10 a.m. Starts: Aug. 12. Continues through Jan. 8, 2012
