It's always been a bit of mystery how he gets his pretty tunes to be so rich with improvising options. Can resounding melodies also open door after door for soloists? Evidently so, and the skills the veteran pianist has at building a band are just as laudable. He picks his colleagues from a variety of circles and invariably comes out with something insightful.
