Dir. Jean Epstein (1932-1933). Preceded by short. Sea and wind soak through Epstein's sailor-and-shipwrecks myth with such force that watching the film can feel like wearing a rain-damped sweater – but beautiful. Preceded by the gauzy, dizzy short Les Berceaux (1931). This is the final weekend for the Anthology’s Epstein retrospective, and you couldn't go wrong with any of the four programs available, but this is an arresting favorite.
