Matmos' Icarus-level concept art-pop—electronic, heavily footnoted, icky sometimes—is a reliably high-minded, high-wire treat. But because these non-native Baltimoreans are perfectionists to a fault, the wait between dispatches for true believers can feel interminable. With the trippy new “Ganzfeld” EP out and a similarly telepathy-inspired LP scheduled for early next year, a presidential term of patience (Supreme Balloon dropped in 2008) seems to finally be paying off.
