Simply Google “why women aren’t funny” and you’ll find a bottomless list of articles and explanations for our gender-based stodginess—many by people who chronically refer to Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig, and Maya Rudolph as “exceptions” and not “women.” But even prior to the great Bridesmaids revelation of 2011, during which a number of heads were removed from an equal number of asses, ladies were always bringing the laughs. Let the She-Devil Comedy Festival prove it to you. For five nights, 70 female comedians will compete for the most coveted prize in America—that’s right, a job. The final seven will perform 10-minute bits, and the best will win an inaugural tour, then a year-long run at the Laughing Devil Comedy Club. So prepare for jokes galore—some aren't even about boys or our periods.
