“I wear my sort of clothes to save me the trouble of deciding which clothes to wear,” the sartorially liberated Katharine Hepburn once said. Popularizing pants well before anyone thought to do so, she became known for her sophisticated mix of tomboy and glamour on-screen and off. Now a new book, Katharine Hepburn: Rebel Chic, looks back at this fashion original with never-before-published photos of her 
costumes and personal ensembles. Tonight, the book’s contributors, Barbara Cohen-Stratyner, Nancy McDonnell, Judy Samelson, and Kohle Yohannan will discuss her impact on Hollywood and fashion at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. The book coincides with the exhibition “Katharine Hepburn: Dressed for Stage and Screen,” which features her 
costumes by celebrated designers, such 
as Cecil Beaton, Valentina, and Jane Greenwood.
