The S.E.M. Ensemble's ambitious series continues with an evening focusing on a few of John Cage's more formidable piano pieces. Joseph Kubera tackles Concert for Piano and Orchestra, whose piano part includes 84 different compositional techniques and as many notations, and the I Ching-generated Music of Changes; violinist Conrad Harris takes on Cage's daunting Freeman Etudes, Book IV; and saxophonist Roscoe Mitchell premieres his own Red Flower on a Bamboo Pole.
