More About

Picking up after the Greeks surprised the Trojans with their wooden horse, Euripides’ mournful antiwar play The Trojan Women follows the mothers, sisters, and daughters who have been left behind with nothing. Now avant-garde director Anne Bogart, artistic director of the Obie-winning SITI Company, presents this ancient tragedy with a contemporary sensibility in Trojan Women (After Euripides), a new adaptation by the Irish playwright Jocelyn Clarke. For this minimalist production, a eunuch priest replaces the chorus of women to tell the story of the four royals—Queen Hecuba, her daughter Kassandra, and her two daughters-in-law—as they wait to hear their fates from the Greek generals. To hear even more about the show, mark your calendar for December 13, when philosopher Simon Critchley joins Bogart for a talk titled “On Truth (and Lies) in Greek Tragedy.”
Wednesdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Nov. 28. Continues through Dec. 1, 2012
