More About

Ever wonder what goes into the creation of your favorite perfume or cologne? Learn all about it at The Art of Scent, the first major museum exhibition to recognize scent as a medium of artistic creation. A showcase of fragrances made between 1889 and 2012, the exhibition starts with Jicky by Guerlain and takes you through famous perfumes from Chanel No. 5 (created in 1921) to Hermès’s Osmanthe Yunnan (2006). For a detailed look into the perfumier’s process, a special installation on Trésor by Sophia Grojsman shows each step of how the fragrance was developed. The best part? Scent machines give you concentrated bursts of each work of “aroma art,” so you’ll go home smelling like a field of flowers.
Tuesdays-Sundays, 11 a.m. Starts: Nov. 20. Continues through Feb. 24, 2012
