The solo project of Real Estate guitarist Matthew Mondanile, Ducktails is a subtle alteration to said band’s surf rock sensibilities, thanks to the musical collaborators and overall approachable songs they construct. Creating an understated psych pop, Ducktails’s albums sound like they were recorded on a dusty four-track but without the detours into fuzzed out abstraction.
