More About

The story of Joy Division and its tragic frontman Ian Curtis is, of course, one of the sadder tales in rock. The group released only one album, Unknown Pleasures, in 1979, before Curtis, who was suffering from epileptic seizures onstage and the emotional strain of a failing marriage, committed suicide the following year. Now bassist Peter “Hooky” Hook gives the behind-the-scenes story of what happened in his memoir, Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division. Tonight, he’ll be in conversation with Pitchfork editor Brandon Stosuy. (Can’t make it? Catch him at the Strand tomorrow with Sasha Frere-Jones.)
Mon., Jan. 28, 7 p.m., 2013
