The TV actress is right.  LINCOLN  was not well directed.  The pacing was uneven; the many characters were introduced in a confusing way; it had all of Spielberg's hokey trademarks; some of  the minor   characters were caricatures; the extra long pause before the undecided democratics voted Aye was like  the phony long pauses in reality shows ; DDL was very good; but the pauses before he began another shaggy dog story were tiresome;  Was THADDS STEVENS ridiculous hair piece necessary?  The fact that he was involved with his black housekeeper (big deal) was a cutesy touch thatin a way  trivialized his commitment to equal rights for blacks. MARY TOOD LINCOLN was  confusingly  integrated (excuse the expression) into some scenes: her quarrel with Stevens over her household expenses was an intrusion: on the other hand, the acting was lively  and the story  had power, but it was too much like a DISNEY rendering of the drama.

Wow!!  It's like someone pulling an almond croissant through a dumpster on the end of a string.  I can't help crawling after the croissant, even though I'm rolling through garbage.  Awesome!!
