More About

Four years after forming, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, and the rest of the electronica group Atoms for Peace finally released their debut album, Amok, last month, revealing not so much a collection of nine songs, but a mood, a feeling, an image. Over the course of 45 minutes, the collective totes out one morosely mesmerizing tone-poem after another, dwelling in entrancing synth vamps that leave just enough space for Yorke’s plaintively whined words about mortality and other worries associated with generalized anxiety disorder. Tonight, the singer and fellow Atom Nigel Godrich will DJ a set that we hope is more uplifting than the group’s disposition. When they DJ’d at MOMA PS1 last September, they played a mix of the Beastie Boys, Talking Heads, and Jaylib, and Yorke sang three then-unreleased Atoms molecules. It’s up to Yorke’s temperament to decide what he sings tonight. With Arca and Holly Herndon.
