Chefs get creative with the humble grilled cheese

Who makes the best grilled cheese (a/k/a the world’s most perfect food) in New York City? Find out this weekend when the two-day Big Cheesy competition returns. American cheese on white bread this is not. This year’s creative cooks come from Melt Shop, Keith Klein’s Milk Truck, Lucy’s Whey, Murray’s Cheese Bar, Say Cheese UWS, Sons of Essex, and ’wichcraft. The Melt Shop will be defending its title as the reigning champions (last year, the shop won with a choice of three sandwiches, including one with sharp cheddar, pulled pork, and BBQ sauce on sourdough). Drinks provided by Sixpoint Brewery.
