Experimental opera singer Joseph Keckler, who blends theater, music, and visual art in his work, has become a downtown must-see for his brilliant and often humorous songs (he has one all about cat names) performed in his powerful voice with a four-octave range. Tonight, take a memorable journey into his wild imagination with his newest show, I am an Opera, which follows Keckler on a bad ’shroom trip as he flashes back to some of the stranger moments from his life (like the time he participated in an orgy for John Cameron Mitchell’s Shortbus). A minotaur also makes a guest appearance. Uwe Mengel directs the psychedelics.
