The lingo is particular in New York City. We have “foodies,” who differ slightly from “locavores” and often stray from the academic realm of “sustainability experts” and “urban agricultural advocates.” While disparate in their definitions, these terms all encompass a similar ethos: New York needs more green, and Robert Shulman attempts to highlight those who’ve made embracing the ethos their life’s work in his new book, Eat the City. At tonight’s Farming the Five Boroughs, a panel of farming and gardening aficionados discuss Shulman’s new findings along with other urban agricultural issues. The panel is followed by a slew of farm-to-table food and drink vendors and live music by bluegrass group the Katydids.
